Bridgwater College Academy welcomed local MP Ashley Fox before the Summer holidays for a special session with Year 10 students, giving them the opportunity to learn more about Parliament, government and the role of a Member of Parliament.
The visit formed part of the Academy’s Curriculum Enrichment Week, with Ashley Fox speaking to students about his work as the Member of Parliament for Bridgwater, as well as explaining how decisions are made in Westminster and the role MPs play in representing their constituents.
Students also had the opportunity to ask Ashley Fox questions and hear first-hand about his experiences representing the constituency both locally and in Parliament.
Ashley Fox said:
“It was a pleasure to spend time with Year 10 students at Bridgwater College Academy and to speak to them about my role as their Member of Parliament and the work I do both locally and in Westminster.
It is incredibly important that young people understand how our democracy works, how decisions are made and, importantly, how they can make their own voices heard.
I was impressed by the interest shown by the students and really enjoyed answering their questions. I hope the session encouraged them to take an even greater interest in the decisions that affect their communities and their future.”
Ashley Fox thanked the staff and students at Bridgwater College Academy for inviting him to take part in the Curriculum Enrichment Week.
