Ashley Fox MP has been reselected as the Conservative candidate for Bridgwater at the next General Election.
The Executive of Bridgwater Conservative Association unanimously reselected Ashley at a meeting held at Puriton Village Hall on Saturday 12th September.
Ashley was elected as the Member of Parliament for Bridgwater at the 2024 General Election and has represented communities across Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge, North Petherton and the surrounding villages in Parliament.
Since his election, Ashley has taken up many issues raised with him by residents across the constituency. He has pressed for tougher action on crime and anti-social behaviour in Bridgwater and Wilstock & Stockmoor, campaigned against unlawful traveller encampments in Burnham-on-Sea and the overconcentration of HMOs in Bridgwater, challenged Royal Mail over poor postal services, and pushed for action to reduce disruption caused by M5 closures.
Ashley has also continued to champion the rebuild of Haygrove School, which was the subject of his first question at Prime Minister's Questions. Since then, he has continued lobbying Ministers and welcomed progress towards delivering the new school.
Following his reselection, Ashley said he wanted to continue focusing on the practical issues affecting people across the constituency.
Ashley Fox MP said:
"It is an enormous privilege to represent the Bridgwater constituency in Parliament, and I am grateful to Bridgwater Conservatives for putting their trust in me to stand again at the next General Election.
Since being elected, I have tried to be the kind of MP who listens to residents and then acts on the issues they raise with me.
That has meant pressing for tougher action on crime and anti-social behaviour across the constituency, demanding a more robust response to unlawful traveller encampments in Burnham-on-Sea, and campaigning to give communities greater protection from the overconcentration of HMOs in Bridgwater.
It has also meant taking Royal Mail to task over the unacceptable service experienced by residents across our constituency and pressing for action to reduce the disruption caused by M5 closures.
One of the first priorities for me as Bridgwater's MP was to fight for the rebuild of Haygrove School. It was the subject of my first question at Prime Minister's Questions, and I have continued lobbying Ministers ever since. I am delighted that the new site has now been confirmed and the project is progressing towards a new school for pupils and staff.
These are practical local issues that matter to the people I represent. We have made progress, but there is much more I want to get done.
Whenever the next General Election comes, I look forward to making the case for continuing the work I am doing and asking local people to put their trust in me once again."
Anthony Betty, Chairman of Bridgwater Conservative Association, said:
"Ashley has worked incredibly hard for people across the Bridgwater constituency since his election in 2024.
He is an active and accessible constituency MP who listens to local people, takes up their concerns and is prepared to fight their corner.
The Association Executive was delighted to unanimously reselect Ashley and we look forward to working with him as he continues to stand up for communities across the Bridgwater constituency."
