Sir Ashley Fox MP has launched a campaign calling on Somerset Council to urgently improve safety at Cross Rifles roundabout in Bridgwater. He has written to Somerset Council setting out the need for urgent action and is now asking residents to back his call by signing a public letter to demonstrate the strength of local feeling.
Cross Rifles roundabout has long been a problem junction. Residents have reported frequent near misses, with the current layout at two of the crossings creating unnecessary risk and congestion.
Ashley is now calling on the Council to prioritise improvements to the cross rifles junction by bringing forward proposals to improve safety as a matter of urgency, with a particular focus on the pedestrian crossings.
Ashley Fox said, “Cross Rifles is a known problem and it has been left unresolved for far too long. Residents are dealing with the consequences every day, whether that’s congestion or real concerns about safety. Somerset Council must bring forward a clear plan to improve the safety at the junctions and urgently get on with the job.”
He added, “I am asking residents to sign my letter so we can show the strength of local feeling. The more people who support this, the harder it will be for the Council to ignore.”
