The Celebration Mile works in Bridgwater have been badly mismanaged by the Liberal Democrats at Somerset Council since the project started.
It's been plagued by delays - those works were meant to finish early summer and we're now heading towards November with the work still ongoing, badly affecting trade. The works on Eastover have improved the street scene but has removed much-needed parking, so time will tell whether that improves matters for local businesses.
However, making East Quay and Salmon Parade one-way is simply not right, and Councillor Richard Wilkins needs to go back to the drawing board and reverse the one-way system here. It's clogging up roads around town, the Cross Rifles roundabout, and making journeys to work, school runs and trips to doctors much longer than necessary.
I'm hearing that people are simply avoiding shopping in town altogether and footfall is down. We need to revive our town centre, not ruin it. So I want Somerset Council to accept that this one-way system on Salmon Parade and East Quay is not right, and reverse it immediately.
I would encourage my constituents to sign the petition, being led by local councillor Diogo Rodrigues, which calls on Somerset Council to reverse the one-way system.
